In 2017, HPHA identified the need for a new digital x-ray unit and upgrades to the current x-ray suite at the Clinton Public Hospital.  When this project was presented to the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation as capital equipment needing replacement in the medical imaging department, the Foundation Board of Directors decided to make it their project to raise funds for at the 2018 Biennial Gala fundraiser.

The 2018 Vintage Circus Gala was successful in bringing in a net profit of $149,913 towards the project.  Since then, the Foundation has been very fortunate to receive additional funding through private donations and bequests left to the Foundation through planned giving.  The cost of the new digital x-ray unit and suite is $493,020.43, all of which has been funded through the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations who have supported the hospital through financial contributions.

On Thursday, February 6th, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held in celebration of the completion of the project.  HPHA Board Chair, Ron Lavoie opened the ceremony with greetings and welcoming remarks, followed by remarks from special guests.  Diane Foxton from the office of Lisa Thompson, MPP Huron-Bruce brought remarks, specifically noting the benefit that this latest technology has for the patients attending the hospital.  Diane also brought thanks to the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation from Lisa, for their “ongoing and tireless support for the hospital”.

From The Municipality of Central Huron, Alex Westerhout shared remarks on behalf of Mayor Jim Ginn.  Alex commented on other projects taking place within the municipality, which will lead to more potential patients in the community who will benefit from the services of Clinton Public Hospital, followed by “We look forward to many more years of having this hospital in the town of Clinton.”

Clinton Public Hospital Foundation Chair, Darren Stevenson introduced the Digital X-Ray Suite Project and noted that “This project ran almost half a million dollars, which goes to show the commitment of our donors.  The Foundation is very appreciative of everyone’s support”.  HPHA Manager Diagnostic Imaging, Louanne Plain addressed those in attendance, explaining the process of the project and thanking everyone involved both in the process of the replacement and for their part for making this project possible.

Closing remarks were made by Andrew Williams, President & CEO of Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance, just prior to the official Ribbon Cutting.  He explained that this is an exceptional day, as well as the project being “a great example for vision of health care and sets the tone to strengthen the community”.  He went on to say that he is blown away by how the community stepped up for this project, in giving the staff at CPH the necessary resources to do their job.

The Clinton Public Hospital Foundation, Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance and the staff of Clinton Public Hospital wish to extend their sincere appreciation to the donors and volunteers, and all those involved in making this project possible.  We live in such a generous and caring community, which continues to support the health care needs of our family, friends and neighbors.  Thank you!
