The Clinton Public Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and Fundraising Committee have made the decision to cancel this year’s biennial Gala back in April, which was set to take place on Saturday, June 20th. This decision was not made lightly, but given the current restrictions with the COVID-19 situation, along with the concern for the well-being of the people of our community, we know it was the right thing to do.
The biennial Gala is the largest fundraiser for the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation. In past years, the Gala has been successful in raising an accumulative total of more than $700,000 for the Clinton Public Hospital. Funds raised from previous Galas have been used for a Refit & Refresh of the hospital, ENT equipment, enhanced cataract services for Huron/Perth, Operating Room upgrades and most recently a Digital X-Ray Unit and Suite.
The Foundation had identified a refresh of the Medical Devices Reprocessing Department as the project to raise funds for at the 2020 Gala. In order to achieve compliance, this department requires renovations in both the operating room and equipment sterilization room, the purchase of two transport carts and equipment/instrumentation for various surgical procedures, including dental, orthopedic, ENT, cataract, urology and general surgeries. The anticipated cost for this project is nearly $607,000.
As plans for the Gala were well underway when the event was cancelled, we had already received tremendous support from our vendors, volunteers, donors and sponsors. We are truly grateful to all of our vendors and volunteers who were so understanding with the cancellation announcement. A special mention to Max Print & Copy and NJS Design for their commitments in assisting to plan for the event. Several of our donors and sponsors made the decision to continue their support to the fundraising goal and project, for which we are very grateful. Their names are listed in the above image.
