Violet’s Coffee Cart – A Cup of Comfort in Memory of Violet Jones
At Clinton Public Hospital, we often witness how the simplest gestures can carry the deepest meaning. Recently, we were honoured by a thoughtful donation made by Jay in memory of his beloved mother, Violet Jones, who passed away in our care.
Violet was known for her deep love of coffee, but it wasn’t just about the cup. For her, coffee was a reason to gather, to pause, and to connect. It brought people together. Whether it was family visiting from out of town or a friend dropping in for a quick hello, Violet loved creating moments where conversation flowed and time was shared. She understood that comfort doesn’t just come from a warm drink, it comes from the people we share it with.
During Violet’s stay, Jay noticed the absence of something that had always been a small but meaningful part of her life: a simple cup of coffee. Inspired by her memory and the comfort she found in those shared moments, Jay made a generous donation of a coffee maker, a tea kettle, and all the fixings needed for families to enjoy a warm drink while spending time with their loved ones.
Thanks to Jay’s kindness, the CPH “Coffee Cart” now serves patients and families in our palliative care rooms. More than just a beverage station, it stands as a tribute to Violet’s spirit in bringing warmth, comfort, and connection to those facing some of life’s most difficult moments.
We are so grateful for this gift, and for the reminder that even in sorrow, love continues to find ways to bring us together.
